Disney World, Dec 1-8 2010

Our family is a huge Disney World fan. We've tried Disneyland a few times and it didn't do it for us. On the other hand Orlando Disney World and Orlando Universal rocks our world. We've been there six times as a family and most of our fun family memories are concentrated there.
Our "adventure to DW began on December 1st. Brett had always wanted to go to Orlando the 1st week of December. I made his wish come true.
I only had six weeks to plan this trip. This trip with seven people was a huge task to plan. My children are not little any more, we had six adults and Kallie was the only child, a total of seven.
  • Day One - Our Delta plane left Boise at 1:00 pm. In that flight there was Brett, myself, Kallie, Eryka and Shawn only. Jake and Alex left an hour later since we could not get them seats on our flight. They flew Southwest going up. We all came home together in the same Delta flight. Once in Orlando I panicked when I didn't see Jake and Alex waiting for us. It was midnight and they were no where to be found. They were supposed to have arrived an hour earlier. We looked, and looked, then found out that their plane just landed, so we went to their gate to meet them. What a relief to see my boys! They had a layover in Las Vegas, and before we left Boise they had teased me about staying in Vegas. Funny boys! We proceeded to get our van rental. I'm not a big fan of minivans.. not my style. I like SUV's, but the prices were ridiculous, so we got a minivan. We all loaded in, got the GPS ready and off we went to find our vacation home. The Vacation home was super nice! Four bedrooms, huge tv, game room with pool table, foosball, family room, pool, hot tub, etc. The house had everything! The best thing about the house was the location. We were minutes away from all the Disney Parks. That night we got to the vacation home and went to sleep. We were tired!
  • Day Two - We were up early. It's unusual to see my kids up early, but their excitement was very noticeable. They all got showered and ready and we all left to Hollywood studios (Disney park), on our way to our destination we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast, and I got to taste a sausage McMuffin. I only get to have one when I'm on a trip, so is double yummy! Once at our destination we started riding rides and watching shows like Muppet Vision 3-D, Extreme Stunt Show, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Star Wars Jedi Training Academy, Studio Back lot Tour, The Great Movie Ride, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Voyage of The Little Mermaid, Toy Story Mania, but the most exciting of all was the American Idol experience. The Pedersen family, being the great singers, musicians they are wanted to try out. It was a tough audition, some of us forgot our lyrics, froze, were pitchy, etc. One of us made it through (Shawn) but they 15 people they needed for that day had already been chosen, so if he wanted to participate he would have to come back another day. Winning the daily American Idol competitions at Disney World meant a guaranteed "Golden Ticket" a for sure try at the real auditions. The park closed at 9:00 PM, the night was a bit chilly and I was getting frustrated with the weather. No one was cold but me. I had waited all night to see the "Osborne Christmas lights spectacular" and that was the best Christmas light display I've seen in my whole entire life. It was so worth it. It felt magical, unreal, beautiful, amazing.. It was AWESOME! At that time I felt the magic of Disney in my heart. I knew right then, why we love this place so much. MORE TO COME!

Shawn became a home owner over a year ago!

I never blogged it before. Better now than never. Congrats Shawn! Your house is beautiful!!

7 Day Cruise to Mexico / Princess Cruise

What a blessing it is to have fun and travel! I love getting away with B and enjoying good quality time together, but then who doesn't right? Our Cruise was amazing. I could go on an on about all the things we did! I will try to summarize the best I can.

Our cruise was a seven day cruise to Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. We flew from Boise to LAX then took a shuttle to the port. Brett and I got a wonderful outside cabin with a balcony. We enjoyed room service anytime we wanted. The food in the ship was excellent. As a couple we entered just about every event there was for us. Brett entered a karaoke contest and did very well, we also participated on their version on the "newlywed game" and a "name that tune" contest. One fun thing that's I'll never forget was one night, we attended this famous magic act. The magician was awesome, and guess who he picked out of the audience to help with his magic trick? ME! He made me float a rose in the air then made it disappear in front of my eyes, then gave it to me at the end of the act. I think he liked me, hahaha.

That by itself was fun! but the fact that we were a fun couple participating in almost every event, made us very popular in the ship. Everywhere we went people knew us, it was so much fun to feel like ship "celebrities.

One bad thing that happened to us was that we lost or sim card and lots of pictures are now gone forever. Oh well!

Kids grow so fast..

Someone posted these pictures on Facebook, and I started crying. I cried because Shawn is a lot like his dad, and that's a good thing. He works in a similar type of job, managing and leading people, they are both talented musicians and they both play the same instrument, the guitar. Shawn is like me in some ways too, he has a short circuit, he thinks he is always right, and a bit stubborn.

I found a poem that I love, it goes with the pictures and explains what went through my mind when I saw the pictures for the first time:
Daddy's Footsteps ~Author Unknown~

“Walk a little slower, Daddy”,Said a little child so small.
“I’m following in your footsteps,And I don’t want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,Sometimes they’re hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,For you are leading me.
Someday when I’m all grown up,You’re what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child Who’ll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,For I must follow you.”

This week happenings.

Brett had a day time performance with his band "Half the World" , it was AWESOME! The weather was HOT, and Kallie complained she wanted to go home the whole time we were there. It was held at Franklin Building Supply, here in Boise.
Last Thursday we had our Navigator fixed, the alternator went out, then this week something else went wrong and is back in the shop for more expensive repairs. Such is life! I'm just glad our trials lately are material things, I can deal with that. Material things can be fixed and replaced. One scary thing, my cute nephew Kalob had a heart issue, and he had to be taken to the emergency room. That really scared me bad! I'm glad he is okay.
One other thing that happened this week, was my nephew Jay went through the Temple and I had the privilege to be there, it was a very nice experience.
Did I mentioned my air conditioner went out too? yeah, another expense. Thank goodness is fixed now.
Yesterday was Peruvian Independence Day and I taught Erica how to make a Peruvian dish called "Lomo saltado". It turned out very good!
That's about it for today, I'm off to bed now.

Cakes, cakes and more cakes!

About 20 years ago I took Wilton cake decorating classes and learned how to decorate cakes. After I became Wilton certified, I took a position as a cake decorator for "Pastry perfection" a local bakery shop here in Boise. I worked there for about 3-5 month. While working at Pastry perfection, I put everything I learned to practice. I eventually quit my job to saty home again and be a full time mom. During the 20 years I decorated cakes for family members, weddings, birthdays, etc. It wasn't till recently, about year ago, while watching Cake Boss on tv, that I decided I could make any cake I saw being made on tv. I started taking online classes on cake decorating, watching youtube videos, and researching recipes. The first thing was naming my home business. My baby girl Kallie was lovingly given a nickname by her older brother Shawn, her nickname was "Kalliecakes" and that name seem to fit, in didn't just sound good, but it had meanin behind. I started by placing an add on Craigslist, and started a blog called "Kalliecakes", I also ordered some business cards and the business took off. I have been busy making and decorating cakes ever since.

One of the things I have done is tought my mom and sister my techniques on cake decorating. They have developed their own techniques and now are starting their own adventures. My business is growing, and, I have orders coming in a weekly basis. People are becoming familiar with our business and they become faithful customers. I thank my Father in Heaven for my talents.

I'm inlove...

I am.. after 27 years of being married to the most amazing guy in the world I'm still head over heals inlove with that dude! It's the most amazing feeling to love and to be inlove. He is so romantic. Yesterday we dropped off Eryka at the "venue" a kids hang out. The kids were playing with their band, and he told me he was taking me out to dinner. He always takes me out to dinner, at least twice a week, and we have a good time, but he remembered I had been wanting to go for the longest time to this Hawaiian restaurant called ONO. He asked me if I wanted to try it out. We went and had the most wonderful time, and the food was delicious. After that we came home to watch American Idol and plan our weekend trip. He is taking me to UT for Valentines day. I hope to attend the Logan Temple while I'm there. Gosh I love my guy. Thanks to my sister in law, we have reservations to "Copper Mill" restaurant. Lobster, steak, and other sea food will be served. I'm to make reservations to a hotel. I'm excited!
