Mother's Day....February 2008

Not to far ago I had one of those days I will never want to forget in my life. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write it on my blog.
I was thinking of Mother's Day coming up tomorrow, and I was thinking what was one of my greatest "motherly" moments this year and one special evening with my son Shawn came to my mind. You have no idea how many days and nights I have thought about documenting this moment, this was indeed a night I never, ever want to forget.
Before Shawn started in Management with T-mobile, he was the top agent here in Boise, so there was a huge award dinner he was invited too, along with other agents that performed well during 2007. They called the agents the top ten. My Shawn was the best of the top ten, lol. Shawn was dating at this time, but he asked me to be his date for the night to this amazing ceremony. It was held downtown Boise at the Grove. The first room was a nice cozy room where we gathered together to meet other people and enjoy some yummy appetizers, they had yummy shrimp, salsa, meatballs, chicken wings, drinks, etc. It was very fancy. We took pictures, and I ate and ate. No one told us that there was more food coming, and the appetizers were so good we had quite a few. Next thing, they ask us to move to another room... oh my gosh! we were greeted to loud music as we walked in, the managers had lined up and we entered this gorgeous room all fancy decorated were we were supposed to have dinner and they were to give away awards to their Top Ten Employees. The food was amazing, We both had the steak dinner. The decorations were all done in Black and hot pink. When they called my son to receive his award people cheered and it was a very joyous time for me as a mom. Son did not only received and Ipod, gift certificated and award, but for being the best they had rewarded him an all expense four day trip to Vegas, all paid, including accommodations and entertainment, and even money. How can I ever forget this day. I have the feeling there is more to come, since I have five children, but this was the best Mother's Day gift ever. Shawn, thanks for opportunity I have to be your Mom. I love you son.

Valentine's Day...Love is in the air

I had a trip planned for V Day. Brett and I will be married 25 years on that wonderful day. Due to my new job training schedule, I can't go on that trip. I look forward to celebrate in a future date with my husband. So go ahead, ask me how did I manage to keep a happy marriage for so long? If you really want to know my secret, here it is:
Communication - I know how to talk to Brett and he knows how to talk to me.
Admiration - He spoils me rotten, he treats me like his queen and tells me he loves everything about me, he hold me and kisses me everyday, we are crazy about each other.
Attraction - Loving ourselves first, alows us to love each other even more. I know when I gain weight I feel very insecure (I gained 8 lbs after Christmas). I guess we are meant to grow old in style. I'm happy for evey single surgery there is to make people look young and I'm not to far off from having my first face lift, and neither is Brett, hahaha.
Commitment - To the relationship, we are commited to stay together no matter what's trown our way.
Fun - That is self describable, FUN with the family and as a couple in everything you do.

Brett and I don't have much in common, he likes rock music I like pop, he plays different instruments, I play none, he likes foods I hate, I like dancing he really doesn't, he loves watching movies, I'm not to crazy about it, but I support his likes and he supports mine. What we do have in common is our religious beliefs, our moral up-bringing and shopping, Brett and I love to shop, I don't know how many guys enjoy shopping with their wives, but mine does, he likes me to "model" for him and try on new clothes and shop for bargains... we are huge bargain shoppers. We don't buy much that's not on sale. Another thing we do is pray, we pray for everything we love and we give thanks. Lately, our family has not been praying together and writing this down reminds me to do something about about it.
Trials - Brett and I have had our share of trials, we've been hit hard in 25 years... We lost a child together, we had ups and down with our relationship and children, he's had some terrible health issues, we are far from perfection. Every trial we've had has been a learning experience for us, and we have grown from it. I can honestly say I'm thanksful for my trials.. regarding my son that past away, I'm thankful for the three months he was here with us, and wouldn't trade those three months for anything in the world, even if I had to do it again. I hold on to the moment I get to see him once again. I'm indeed thankful for my trials.

Training..

I started training at Blue Cross of Idaho. Customer service is quite the challenge but I'm enjoying learning. I have an awesome trainer named Rebekka, and she makes it easy for me to learn. I took my first review test today and scored 95%... Yippee for me!!! I hope and pray to keep doing good. Yesterday I went by my old office, saw all the people I worked with and...Oh how much I miss them!! I had gotten so used to them, and the are all terrific people in and outside of work. Everytime I see one of them walking in the hall, I get so happy.
Anyway I have lots of training left to do and I'm looking forward to learning new things.

My last day with the Direct Sales Team... Blue Cross 2008

I went to work on Thursday kinda sad. It was the last day I worked with the Direct sales team and they have no idea how much I will miss them. Crystal asked me when I was going to lunch, I told her whenever, since I had no desire to eat at the cafeteria. We have become very close in this team. I have the best manager I've ever had in my life, and he managed our team very well.
Before coming back to the work force I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was afraid I lacked knowledge and worry about who will hire me, that is the reason why I became a "temp" with Volt.
I truly believe my Heavenly Father listen to my prayers when I became a Temp for the Direct Sales Team. My first experience back at work in eight years was an amazing one. It was so amazing I decided I loved working for Blue Cross and want to stay there.
On my last day at work, I was surprised by my co-workers with this amazing farewell party. They bought lots of food, Delinda made a cake, I received a very touching card that made me cry when I read it. Delinda gave me a beautiful bracelet... it meant a lot to me. Crystal, gave me candles, which I love. My boss, made me feel very special on that last day, he even had a count down to how many hours and minutes left that day.
My team has made my work here at Blue Cross an experience I will never, ever, forget. Thanks team... You all have a place in my heart.
Now I'm off to work with another team, the Customer Service Team, I can only hope and pray to be half as happy as I was with my Direct Sales team.
THANK YOU TEAM!!

Hanna Montana

I had Friday off from work, and Brett and I went out all day with our little angel Kallie. We took her to see Hannah Montana at the Edwards Cinemas. I wasn't prepared to pay $15.00 per ticket, but we did. Kallie was so excited, but was only able to stay up for half the show, the other half she slept and Brett and I watched the show. After the show was over we went Target and then to eat at a nice restaurant. Today, Sunday we have fresh snow in the ground and Kallie and brothers Jake and Alex have been outside playing in the snow. Kallie build her first ever snowman by herself... it's tiny snowman, but the fact that she made him without help it's amazing.
Saturday we spent at home and today I've been cooking all day because it's Superbowl Sunday. Anyway, I start working at a new department at BC tomorrow.

Have I done any good in the world today?

Ever since I started working I have become a bit selfish. I asked myself if I had done anygood in the world today, and at first I didn't think I had. I haven't done any acts of service for my fellowman since last Christmas. Have I lost a bit of myself? What happend to Rossana who was always there to lend a hand for others? I need to give more. But wait... I think I have done a lot of good in the world and I think I'm doing it everyday. Yesterday I attended one of those seminars where they motivate you to be more positive. I was amazed to find out I have some great qualities, like not yelling at my kids, and a great relationship with my dear husband... and also have a great family unit. So, if I was to answer that question again, i will have to say yes.. the fact that I'm what I'm makes me a contributor in making this world a better place to live... Have I done any good in the world today... Heck yeah!

Kallie's "pretend" Birthday party...

Kallie cakes eating her yummy "Birthday" cake She had to feed Doodle bear because he was to tired to feed himself.

Kallie and Little Mermaid are best friends!

She said that little Mermaid fin was broken so she had to help her too.

After she feed her friends, she smiled for the camera.

Here are the guest at the table. Fun Party!

My Kalliecakes wanted to have a birthday party today. She has been to MANY birthday parties lately and thinks its unfair she doesn't have one of her own NOW! We tell her her birthday is not till August but poor baby girl, doesn't understand and really, doesn't want to wait till August. Sisiter Erica made Kallie a birthday cake, and we invited, Ariel, the little mermaid, doddle bear and Kallies baby to attend the party. We played games, fed the guests and had a ball. Here are some pictures of her "pretend" birthday party.

Brett's turns 49

My dear husband turns 49 today, his mom came over and gave him a gift and she also made him a birthday cake. My honey did not want a big party this year, all he wanted was to spended with us and go out to eat at a restaurant. Today we wanted to take the kids to eat at the Olive Garden but forgot Jake and Alex had finals at their night school, but our wonderful son Shawn took daddy and I to Brett's favorite Chinese buffet. We will do Olive Garden as a family on Friday, when our whole family can go.
This week I took the responsability of planning my family reunion. It's going to be a huge task due to the size of my family, but the cousins look forward to getting together again. I have send a poll to the family members to get ideas regarding date and place. Jake just got home and he got A's on his finals!!! Way to go Jake!!! Alex also passed and we are very happy for him too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!!!

Mr. mom.

I had no idea I was married to and amazing Mr. Mom. Brett, is amazing! he cleans, he takes care of Kallie, he spoils and loves me, he does the laundry and dishes. Yesterday, he picked me up from work and took me out for lunch. He took care of school for Jake and Alex... I appreciate everything he does, and stand amaze at how wonderful he is as Mr. mom.

Mr. Mom is wanting to join the Corporate world again, but I'm not ready to be a full time mom anytime soon. I really enjoy working and earning a paycheck.

It snowed all day today in Boise. I do not like to drive in the snow. My sweet husband gets up early every morning and warms up the car for me, he takes the kids to school and comes back home to take care of Kallie. I'm so blessed to have a good husband.

Brett's birthday is tomorrow, he'll be 49 years old. I wanted to plan a huge party for him but he opted for just celebrating as a family and going to the Olive Garden with the family. I guess the big party will have to wait till next year when he turns 50.

I did a lot of filing at work today, my feet hurts. Better go to bed soon.

One great memory for Kallie to always remember...

Shawn woke up early one morning a few days before Christmas and was very excited to get Kallie up. Kallie was very sleepy, but Shawn got her up because the night before he had gone to the store and bought one of those girgerbread house kits and wanted to build it with Kallie. Kallie got up from bed, got her cooking apron and hat on and started helping Shawn.
Kallie and brother Shawn build the gingerbread house together. Shawn is such a nice brother to spent quality time with his little sister. Thanks Shawn, Kallie had fun with you! As I watched them together my oldest and my youngest, my heart was very joyful. I know Shawn will make a great dad someday, he is amazing! Where did time go? He grew so fast and he is no longer a kid.. he is a man, and so far he makes me proud to be his mother. We are glad to have you my Shawni boy.

New Church schedule...

Snow Princess made by Erica and Kallie

It snowed a ton last night and it was hard to get out of bed this morning. It's Sunday and we have a new church schedule but there is so much snow outside... everthing is covered, at least 6 inches of snow. Our new church time is 9:00 A.M. soooooooo early.
Today we got the Christmas decorations down and the house looks a little empty without all the fun decorations. Erica took Kallie outside and together they mad a Snow Princess... Kallie has a blast with Erica. I had to post pictures of the Snow Princess.

Christmas 2008

This was a year to remember... Our oldest son, Shawn, was kind enough to play Santa for Christmas, and was very generous to his family.
Here in my blog I feel I can say anything I want, and today I want to tell the world about my family and how thankful I am for each and everyone of the.
Brett- Honey, we've gone through some trials of our own, but what really matters is were we are now... We are the happiest couple ever... This year I fell inlove with you all over again, just like in the begining, I appreciate all your sacrifices and the love you have shown for me and the kids. I know that giving up a job with so much prestige and great salary was not the easiest thing to do, but you did it for the kids, to keep our family together, to bring us back home... you showed your love and gave up your "dream" job. I see blessings upon our family because you did the right thing.
Shawn, you are an adult now and you are very responsible on your daily doings. I am very thankful to have a son like you. I truly appreciate the love you show for your brothers and sisters... I do not worry anymore because if something was to happen to me or daddy you would be able to take over and do a great job. You truly are the best brother any kid coul'd ever have. Your brother look up to you and love you. The main reason why you are still here with us is because of the bond we share as a family and the strong bond between you and your brothers, this Christmas you were so good to them and got them all new blackberry phones and three months od paid services, you got your little sister a brand new battery operated Mustang... and not to mention taht when you found out she asked Santa for a new kitty, you went and spent a bunch of money on a ragdoll kitty, just to make her dreams come true. Shawn you do so much for your family, we are indeed thankful. This year you gave me very nice gifts, including a new cell phone, and I'm loving it. Shawn, we are so excited about your future, we wish you the best my dear boy... You truly are a gift from God to daddy and I.
Erica, my dear girl, I'm so glad you are my friend. I'm lucky you can talk to me about anything and everything. I'm glad you are staying morally clean and strong to the church. Every Sunday when I see you attend your singles ward I'm reminded that you are trying to make good choices. This year you got to date a LOT of boys and that was fun for you. Dating is part of growing up... lately I have noticed you being a lot pickier and choosier about whom you date and that's a good thing. I'm proud you finished nail tech school. Erica, your personality is amazing... you are sweet and kind and oh... so lovable. You are the best sister anyone could EVER have. I see you doing things for your brothers and sister all the time, and the love to have Rycka around. When Rycka is not around you will hear Alex asking for you, or Shawn wondering and worrying about you. You'll always be our very first Princess and we again very thankful for a sweet daughter like you. You truly are my best friend Eryka, I have confided many of my feeling to you and you have been there for me always. What I see happenig for you this year, well... I see many things, but I hope you meet the man of your dreams and find a great job, because Princesses also get to work a little. I love you my girl.
Jake, my quiet boy. I'm so glad our lives are back to normal once again. I know it was hard for you to have your "life" disturbed when we moved to Costa Rica. My handsome son, I know you are sixteen years old, and you are a lot like Shawn was at that age, quiet and reserved. I love the fact that you like to be home so much, you must be happy at home... but thinking about it, our whole family is that way, lol. Jake you are so smart!! I can call on you whenever I need anything electronic fixed, and you do it. I love how loving you are towards me. My Jakie poo, how fast time has flown, I see videos of you when you were a baby and remember what a gorgeous baby you were. Jake, Shawn just got home... just a second ago, and the first thing he asks for is to know where you and Alex are... You brothers are amazing, and I love to see my boys that close to each other. Jake, you are going back to Centennial here in a few weeks and I hope you have a blast. This is the year you will be Mr. popular at school, you know the girls like you, lol. Jake you are fun to be around, we can be sitting at the couch, not doing a thing but still enjoy each other's company. I love you Jake, I look forward to a fun year with you, seeing you date, and drive. Oops, now I'm scared.
Alex- My rock... yes son you are my rock of strenght and I will always be thankful to you for sticking by my side in Costa Rica. Gosh Alex, you are so funny, you truly have an amazing sense of humor. I love it when you sit by my side and want to have your back scratched. Alex this past year I saw a genius at the guitar... Alex you are so talented. I can't believe I gave birth to such talented children. You truly amaze me with your music and I love to hear you play the guitar although at times it gets a bit loud. Alex, I know school doesn't come easy for you, but seeing you trying and making it brings me joy. Alex, yo have one of my kids have my skin color means a lot to me, lol, don't tell your brothers or sisters, hahaha.
Alex, thanks for loving your family so much. Alex, you are the only one of my kids I allowed to "date" at fourteen. You are such a friendly kid, you have lots of friends and you are very popular with the girls, so be careful my baby.
Remember last night you trying to share your burger with me... is the little things that you do that tells me you love me. I love you baby, and I'm forever grateful I have you as my son.
Kalliecakes, my baby, you keep me feeling young and active. You are an angel in our home, and we love your sweet spirit. Kallie, this past year was a huge year for you. You traveled very much and loved your school in CR. Kallie you are a breath of fresh air in our home, you are loved more than anyone I know. Your brother Shawn spoils you by buying you anything you ask for. You have every male in our home wrapped around your little finger. You are our little princess and we love you.
This year we were able to understand you when you talked to us. You grew a lot, you wore size 4T clothing and size 9 shoes. You hardly ever got sick and you loved taken baths.. you take about three baths a day. Daddy got to spent a lot of time with you sweetheart, and you bonded with your daddy like no other daughter and dad. Daddy takes care of you and he does a great job. You still like your mimi, and love to caress daddy's ear before you go to sleep. Kallie we love you and we thank you for being a good little girl.

Our Year.....

Pedersen Family Chronicles for 2007
This year has been a good year for the Pedersen’s. We came back home from our Costa Rican expedition enjoying the blessings of having our family together again. We give thanks to everyone of you who remembered us while we were gone and who wrote to us or called while we were abroad.
Brett- The big news is after close to 24 years of employment with Hewlett-Packard, Brett was able to qualify for an early-retirement package. Although it was a huge sacrifice to give up such a prestigious position as head of operations in Costa Rica for LaserJet technical support, he found it more important to cut his stay short in order to bring his family back together. He was very fortunate to leave HP on a high-note having achieved building one of the most successful call-centers within HP’s global operations, along with having received requests for his return upon completing his 1 year requirement away from HP. Upon returning home his focus turned to his home-improvement project which included everything from carpeting, painting, and exterior rock facing. He even completely finished out his garage so that now his kids can have band rehearsal there, but of course that may be coming to an end since the neighbors nerves are starting to wear thin. He has also learned to appreciate what it’s like to be a mom after his wife went back to work (he can’t work until after the new year due to the impact of taxable income as a result of his severance package from HP). Brett’s primary focus is currently on his music career and he has just completed recording and mixing his new album with his band Half the World. They have already had material solicited by 5 major labels and currently have a publishing deal in the works to sell their music to movies and television. They continue to tour through the northwest and have opened for major touring acts and most recently have been asked to open for Puddle of Mud in Spokane. This couldn’t have happened at a better time since they recently opened for the CD release of famed Christian rock band, We As Human. The radio station that was covering the event was so impressed with HTW that they have gotten on board to commit playing their first single in heavy rotation for 8 weeks to place them on the national play lists that tend to lead to industry attention (this is a feat that normally costs record companies huge dollars for this type of exposure). It is too early to see where this will take his band but their goal is to be a platinum selling artist and the initial positive industry feedback on some of their songs may be early indicators that the potential is there to make it happen, so stay tuned…
Rossana- After handling the big task of moving our family back from Costa Rica and settling ourselves in our home, which included school re-enrollment and going through the withdrawal of not having a full-time maid and nanny, Rossana made sure that Brett’s retirement was a lot of fun. For the first five months after they returned she had a great time spending every day with Brett without the worries of having a job, supporting him with his band and even joining him on some of his out-of-state trips. They also enjoyed going out together every day, shopping for bargains, going to the Mall, taking small trips, and to flying to Disneyland with Kallie. In October, Rossana got a job as an Administrative Assistant with Blue Cross of Idaho, and she truly enjoys. Having her new job has boosted her self esteem and has allowed her to learn new skills that she can definitely use later in life.
Shawn- During this past year Shawn has been working at T-mobile and this year was recently promoted into a lead supervisor position. Statistically, Shawn had been in the top-percentile for customer-handling, and has won numerous rewards for his efforts. Shawn also bought himself a brand new car, a beautiful fully-loaded red Mustang, and he has pimped out his ride with cool wheels and white racing stripes. Shawn is currently dating Rebecca, a beautiful girl who attends Idaho State University, and will be earning her Masters Degree in Education in May. He is looking into buying a house this year and maybe moving out of our home. Shawn is the best brother anyone could ever have, he gives his brothers and sisters lots of attention and buys them toys and clothes. Shawn is a great influence to his younger brothers, who look up to him and desire to follow in his footsteps. Shawn started a band this year, and his songs are amazing, but more amazing is that he asked Alex to be the second guitar player, but even though Alex is only 14, he is very advanced for his age. We are truly thankful for the music talent our family has been given. It bonds our children together and creates a means for our family to have fun. Our home is very noisy during band practices, but knowing that our kids are having good fun makes it all good.
Erica- Erica looks amazing! She has lost a lot of weight and is doing very well. Our daughter’s outside beauty finally matches her inside beauty. She has become very popular with the boys and is dating quite a bit. Erica finished nail tech school and will be taking her board test in January. Erica is a joy to have around. She is sweet, kind, and very compassionate and loving to all that know her. Her musical talents also keep getting better each year, especially her ability to sing. This year Erica is giving guitar lessons and enjoys teaching very much. Erica continues to pursue her art.
Erica also had an opportunity to fly over to Costa Rica to be with her family before they moved home and had a blast there. She went with her mom and two of her visiting friends on a three day Costa Rican adventure done the Costa Rican way, by bus. They explored lots of rainforest, climbed mountains, enjoyed beautiful oceans, ate exotic food, fed wild monkeys, and even peeled coconuts that fell to the ground. This was an adventure she’ll never forget.
Jake- Jake was home schooled all year long by attending on-line school. In order to get caught up on his credits he also attended night school (it was difficult to attend school while in Costa Rica, which put him slightly behind). Jake will be attending Centennial High School in a few weeks and he can’t wait for everything to be back to normal. Like the rest of his family regarding music, Jake’s is a talented drummer. Jake is thrilled to be back in the US where he can be with all his family and friends and do all the things he enjoys. He also held his first job this year, and worked for Target for three months. Jake is a trouble free child who enjoys being home most of the time. He likes his video games and enjoys hanging out with his brothers. It is great to see that the family is so close.
Alex- Alex was a great support for him mom this year. Alex hardly ever complained about being in Costa Rica, but we knew he wasn’t happy there (although he now admits he like it a lot more now that he is away). His big highlight of the year was the three day adventure trip he took with Erica, Mother, and friends. They walked in rain and mud, explored the rain forest, and had the best trip ever. Alex also had a lot of fun with his Dad when they were able to row a kayak out into the ocean. One thing that made Alex happy in Costa Rica is there was never a shortage of good pizza, even if it meant delivery from Pizza Hut. Alex surprised us all this year with his amazing guitar playing, despite the degree of complexity that his brother Shawn has in his song writing, Alex is able to keep right up with him. He is very motivated to see his band succeed. Alex also loves to skateboard with his friends, and is enjoying attending Centennial High.
Kallie- Our beautiful little girl was enrolled in dance and gymnastics after returning home. She loves dancing and performing and being able to do things with other boys and girls. She had a chance to attend a private preschool where she actually had a bus pick her up from her home everyday. She was quickly becoming bilingual even though her classes were taught in English. She often asks to go back to her home in Costa Rica where she had friends she could play with in their neighborhood. Kallie is so much fun, she is spoiled by her older brother Shawn who buys anything she asks for and for Christmas Shawn got her a little battery operated mustang to drive so her little sister could have a car just like his. This year Brett and Kallie share lots of time together and she has become daddy’s girl. Brett is enjoying every minute he has with Kallie, knowing that soon she will be grown and he may be back in the workforce.
